About Saithe (Pollachius Virens)
Saithe is most commonly caught of the south-west coast of Iceland, although it can be found all around the country. It is an active, wandering fish occurring in inshore and offshore waters. Usually enters coastal waters in spring and returns to deeper waters in winter and most often stays at depths down to 200 meters.

Like other fish in the cod family, saithe is outstanding source of protein. It is ksi rucg in vitamin B12 and selenium and has a healthy balance of sodium and potassium.

Diet
Smaller fish in inshore waters feed on small crustaceans (copepods, amphipods, euphausiids) and small fish, while larger fish prey predominantly upon fishes.
